2006: Catch them while you can – FRUIT in the fall!

This fall FRUIT return to North America for a 6 week tour and a chance to wish their firmly dedicated audience well as they plan to take a break from the road.

For the past 7 years Mel Watson (horns), Susie Keynes (electric/acoustic guitars) and Sam Lohs (acoustic guitar) have made a tireless habit of flying across the pacific from their home in Australia and presenting their highly applauded and hugely popular brand of harmony-heavy, horn-infused acoustic-pop.

Having met in 1995 FRUIT began as a collaboration of songwriters with the right instrumentation to be a band – 11 years on they still are. They boast having played in 36 States of the US and are regulars on the North American festival circuit where they reliably bring home the accolade of being the highest CD selling act!

More than that, FRUIT have a habit of getting under your skin. Their music stretches across genres from bluesy belts to scorching torch, from plaintive ballad to anthemic rock. They are known for the power of their performance and their passion to deliver their music in a dynamic, involving and heart-stopping way. A big call for a trio? With the Anchorage Daily News claiming them as ‘…three KD Langs in a row’ and Edinburgh’s The Scotsman calling them ‘..absolute all-round entertainment’ FRUIT is in the habit of giving it all.

And records aside you will be charmed by the remarkable talents and the compelling natural performance of these three instrumental divas.

Touring in support of their latest Philadelphia produced album, BURN, don’t miss the chance to see one of Australia’s hardest working and most enthralling of talents while they are here.

  • Musically, they kick ass: great instrumental skills and vocals that shine with the special glow that comes from years of singing together. Over almost a decade of performing and many, many miles on the road, they have brought together everything they love about blues, folk, jazz, pop and the ways of groove to create music that sets up a major pleasure loop between them and everyone listening…Mel Watson, Susie Keynes and Sam Lohs are the proverbial power trio._ Dugg Simpson, Vancouver Folk Music Festival Artistic Director 2005

  • To me Fruit are one of Australia’s best kept secrets, their energy and songs never fail to capture audiences, whether playing to 20 000 or 1000 and they are already one of our hardest working exports _ Michael Chugg, ILMC World Promoter of the Year 2006
